Alexander Kačaniklić’s stunning strike for the Under-21s at Colchester United has been voted December’s Coral Goal of the Month.
The Swedish winger was one of a number of First Teamers who were given some game time in the U21 Premier League Cup, and he showed his class by opening the scoring with a wonder goal from distance.
After collecting a Cauley Woodrow lay-off, Kačaniklić advanced several paces before letting fly from 25 yards at a tight angle, with the ball arrowing into the top left-hand corner via the underside of the bar.
It’s the only time this season that the Goal of the Month has come from a non-First Team game, with Kačaniklić’s effort taking 31.7 per cent of the votes.
Ross McCormack’s spin and volley against Rotherham United came second with 23.1 per cent, and his free-kick at home to Ipswich Town was third with 14.6.
